About
Barrett’s Plantation House Bed & Breakfast
Stay within a piece of living history.
The Barrett Kitchen is the oldest section of the home and is believed to have been the original dwelling on Barrett’s Plantation. The structure began as a simple one-room house with a sleeping loft above and is thought to date back to 1717, as records confirm that James Barrett was living on his 500-acre property at the time of his death that year.
The house was expanded to include a sitting room and dining room on the first floor, two guest rooms - the Dickinson Suite and the Morris Suite - on the second floor and the garret on the third floor. A kitchen was built onto the rear of the original structure in the mid-1800s, then the back section, consisting of a modern kitchen and owner's suite on the upper floor was built in 1991.
Lovingly restored and carefully maintained, Barrett’s Plantation House Bed & Breakfast celebrates the craftsmanship and elegance of a bygone era. Original details such as wide pumpkin pine floors, hand-crafted woodwork, and multiple fireplaces have been preserved to honor the home’s historic roots. Each guest room is thoughtfully appointed with a blend of period antiques, fine reproduction furnishings, custom draperies, and richly patterned oriental rugs, creating an atmosphere that is both refined and welcoming.
While history is at the heart of your experience, comfort is never compromised. Modern amenities are seamlessly incorporated to ensure your stay is as relaxing and convenient as it is memorable.
